Set on a remote island, where Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skilful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso's son, Ferdinand.
The technicalities in the play were well done. Both lighting and music were on point and used very appropriately to evoke feelings in the viewers. Also, the fact that there was actual liquid inside the wine bottle is a very cool thing, totally unexpected.
During the play, the actors did a good job in expressing the feelings of the characters. The acting of the actors is also very well done. It allows viewers to understand things from their perspective better. The singing was also very nice and pleasing to the ears.
The language was effectively presented to the viewers and it also proved the point that the play is a Shakespearean one. Words like thee, and thou art is being used. Enunciation is relatively eloquent and certain parts are hard to understand because of it. Accents are very obvious and makes it hard to comprehend at times what the actors are saying.
Overall, it is a very interesting play and an eye-opener to newbies like us.
